Intel’s roadmap change makes motherboard makers wary
In its latest roadmap Intel has decided to replace its RDRAM-supporting Tulloch chipset, originally to be launched in the third quarter of 2002, with the Tehama-E and there seems to be no plan to introduce any other RDRAM-based chipset. Taiwan’s motherboard makers said that they will follow suit and gradually phase out RDRAM boards after the first quarter of 2002.

Sono VK 2208 (Hawk) Review

o plánech Intelu
Minulý týden jsme vás seznámili s plány Intela na příští rok, dnes tu máme některá doplnění, především co se Celeronů týče. Pentium 4 Celeron 1.8GHz můžeme čekat v druhé polovině příštího roku. A bude to MPGA 478 s FSB 400MHz a 0,18mikronovu technologií. Celerony na bázi Pentia 4 budou mít jádro Willamette a pravděpodobně budou mít menší cache, jakou se bude upřesňovat později. Pentium 4 na 2,53GHz budou s FSB 533MHz a s 512k cache. Brookdale-E, Tehama-E a Brookdale-GL budou vypuštěny v jednom kvartálu. Tehama-E a Brookdale-E budou mít 533MHz FSB. Jeden bude pro Rambus a druhá pro SDRAM/DDR.

Pentium III driver pro Windows XP opravdu urychluje
Jeden náš čtenář (díky Mirku) mi poslal informaci, že po nainstalování zmíněného ovladače opravdu dojde ke zrychlení. Tak kupříkladu u něj, na konfiguraci PIII 603 MHz, 256 RAM, GForce 2 GTS 32MB, se výsledky v 3D Marku 2001 (1024*768, 32bit, 2AA, compresed texture) změnili z 1861 na 2181. Použil betaverzi detonátorů 21.85. U detonátorů 21.83 bez Pentium III driveru byl výsledek pouhých 1653. Jde tedy o nárůst 32% jen výměnou dvou driverů!
