First-tier motherboard makers’ 1Q-3Q financial results
With an EPS of NT$7.9 over the first three quarters, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) beat the other three first-tier board makers to claim the profit crown. Micro-Star International (MSI) came in second with an EPS of NT$6.6, exceeding Asustek Computer for the first time.

The current TYAN’s monopoly to ship Socket A mainboards for AMD Athlon MP CPUs should be over quite soon now. Nové chipsety SiS 745 a 740 již brzy?
Po netu se začíná proslýchat, že tyto nové SiS chipsety by se měly objevit co nevidět i když SiS původně oznámila, že by světlo světa měly spatřit až v začátkem příštího roku (SiS 740 v prvním kvartále a SiS 735 ve druhém). SiS 745 nahradí současný SiS 735 a umožní s Durony/Athlony používat DDR333 paměti, uvnitř budou také oba South i NorthBridge připojené ke speciální Multi-Threaded I/O Link sběrnici s datovým tokem 1.2GB/s. Bude mít rovněž integrovaný FireWire řadič. SiS 740 pak bude mít i integrovanou grafickou kartu. Proto bychom si tyto chipsety měli představit trochu podrobněji.
