Chipset VIA KT400 bude později
První informace o KT400 hovořily jasně: první vzorky budou od března a prodej začně v druhém čtvrtletí. Na konci března jsme se dozvěděli, že vzorky budou až později, v dubnu. A nyní se objevily informace o tom, že VIA osouvá uvedení KT400 na konec třetího či až dokonce do čtvrtého čtvrtletí tohoto roku. Přitom vzorky již výrobci základních desek mají.

VIA odkládá uvedení čipové sady Apollo KT400
Společnost VIA Technologies odkládá uvedení čipové sady VIA Apollo KT400, která byla původně plánována na druhé čtvrtletí. Ve finále by tato čipová sada měla podporovat paměťové technologie DDR333/400, grafickou sběrnici AGP 8x, sběrnici 8x V-link s propustností 533 MB/s a dodávat se bude se SouthBridge čipem VIA VT8235 (Ultra ATA/133 a USB 2.0). Proč dojde k tomuto zpoždění ? To je samozřejmě řečnická otázka, ale důvodem může být třeba snaha zbytečně nekonkurovat současným špičkám KT266A a KT333 na trhu s čipovými sadami po Socket A platformu.

Sestava se dvěma Opterony a 16 DIMM sloty
Společnost AMD poskytla serveru The Inquirer fotografie sestavy osazené dvěma procesory Opteron. Zajímavé je, že tato sestava (fotografie v běžné velikosti je zde a fotografie ve vysoké kvalitě pak zde) je postavena na základní desce se 16 sloty DIMM. Mezi fotografiemi je též záběr samotného Opteronu (ostrost je opravdu mizerná), ovšem v tak nízké kvalitě, že se může jednat o jakýkoliv procesor :-(.

VIA chipsety pro Hammer
V pátek jsem psal o chipsetu K8HTB pro procesory z rodiny Hammer. Velmi podobné parametry má i chipset K8HTA, liší se však použitým balením. U obou bude použit 800 MHz HyperTransport a jižní můstek VT8235 (USB 2.0, šestikanálový AC97 zvuk, 10/100 Ethernet, ATA/133).
