MSI 845GMax-L Motherboard
Just after Willamette, Intel continued with another core that used 0.13 production technology, so-called Northwood. This core was the pioneer and made 512 KB Cache a standard for the successor P4s. These cores were called as Pentium 4 “A”. Just after Pentium As, Intel has new released a new series called Intel Pentium 4 “B”. This series also have the Northwood core, yet they support 133 MHz. BUS speed instead of 100MHz. And what it means is that they will have 533 MHz. FSB thanks to Intel’s Quad Pump.

Court throws out Via charges against Intel

Intel's New DDR Chipsets - 845E & 845G
Two weeks ago Intel launched the first 533MHz FSB CPUs at 2.4 and 2.53GHz; alongside the new CPUs Intel introduced the first 533MHz FSB chipset - the 850E. Today Intel is transitioning all of their Pentium 4 chipsets to 533MHz FSB platforms with the release of the 845E. Just as was the case with the 850E, the only change that is made to the 845E is the official support for the 533MHz FSB.

VIA začíná dodávat chipset P4X400
Tedy, zatím to není oficiální, ale víme to díky firmě Soltek, která ohlásila základní desky SL-85ERV a 85ERV-L právě s tímto chipsetem. Pokud nás čtete pravidelně, tak zcela jistě víte, že toto není neplánovaná věc a uvedení P4X400 na trh bylo očekáváno v létě. Také byste mohli vědět, že jde prakticky o zcela stejný chipset jako P4X333, jen navíc s podporou (zatím) nestandardních DDR400 pamětí.

Zajímavé informace od SiS
SiS prozatím vše vyrábí 0,15 mikronovou výrobou, jedinou výjimkou je chipset SiS645, který je vyráběn 0,18 mikrony. SiS chce ve třetím čtvrtletí pomalinku začít zavádět i 0,13 mikronovou výrobu. Pomalinku je zde zcela právem, protože skutečný provoz s touto novou technologií začne až někdy ve čtvrtém čtvrtletí, do kterého je plánováno uvedení grafického chipu Xabre II, který právě jako první bude vyráběn 0,13 mikrony. SiS Xabre 600, která je plánována ještě na třetí čtvrtletí, bude stále vyráběna 0,15 mikrony.

Intel 845PE/GE přijdou až koncem roku
Společnost Intel odsunula uvedení čipových sad Intel 845EG a Intel 845GE z měsíce září až na čtvrté čtvrtletí. Pravděpodobným důvodem bude snaha prodloužit životní cyklus současných produktů. Mimochodem ostatní výrobci čipových sad (SiS a VIA), kteří pracují na modelech podporující AGP 8x a DDR400 údajně také ze stejných důvodů zpomalují jejich uvedení.

VIA 4-in-1 4.40a(P3)
V pondělí zmiňovaný VIA 4-in-1 4.40 už tu má nástupce. Nyní již pro všechny operační systémy, takže stahovat může každý, kdo má Wokna (samozřejmě, že pro Windows 3.11 a starší již ne). Download nabízíme i od nás (1.1MB). Ať se ale koukám, jak se koukám, oproti předchozí verzi 4.40 nevidím žádnou změnu, ani jeden změněný soubor.

Intel pozdrží vypuštění i845GE a i845PE
Před necelými dvěma týdny jsem vás informoval, že Intel začne dodávat tyto dva chipsety dříve, než původně plánoval, už na začátku července. Před tím byly informace, že se objeví až v srpnu. Jenže už dříve se výrobcům základních desek se i845GE a i845PE nelíbili a mnozí říkali, že je přeskočí. Nakonec tedy Intel podlehl těmto tlakům a dva chipsety pro DDR333 paměti uvede až někdy ve čtvrtém čtvrtletí.

i845G – Intel Extreme Graphics vs GeForce2 MX 400
Prozatím jedinou řadou čipových sad Intelu, které podporují na platformě Pentia 4 paměti DDR je čipsetová série i845. Od svého uvedení prošla několika inovacemi a byla obohacena o nové typy. V současné době se na trhu vyskytuje v několika modifikacích a právě jednu z nich jsme otestovali.

VIA 4 in 1 verze 4.40
Společnost VIA Technologies uvedla novou verzi svého ovladače „4 in 1“. Tentokráte se jedná o verzi 4.40 (poslední verze byla označena číslem 4.38). Dochází k updatu ovladače „VIA chipset driver“ z verze 1.50 na verzi 1.60a, dále je pak upraven ovladač „VIA AGP driver“ z verze 4.10b na verzi 4.20a. Bohužel není uvedeno jaké problémy tento ovladač v nové verzi řeší :-(. Ovladač si můžete stáhnout přímo ze stránek VIA Technologies a to zde.

Duhových 533 MHz
Intel před nedávnem vypustil do světa své procesory s FSB sběrnici tikající na 533 MHz. Ve stejné době se objevily i čipsety podporující novou sběrnici. Není jich málo: i845E a G, SiS 645 DX a trochu vzdálenější VIA P4X333. My jsme se zaměřili na nové čipsety od Intelu. Právě tento čipset se nachází v nové desce od ASUS - P4B533, která zaujme široké množství uživatelů.

Yamhill nebude, Intel ztrácí
Podle některých zdrojů Intel ruší svůj „neexistující“ projekt – technologii Yamhill. Tento systém měl pomoci procesorům Prescott konkurovat přicházejícímu Hammeru od AMD podporou 32- i 64-bitových aplikací. Intel tak v budoucnosti pravděpodobně ztratí nějaké procento trhu.

VIA 4-in-1 4.40
Na VIAreně můžete stahovat nový 4-in-1. I když se tam píše, že tato verze je jen pro Win ME, 2000 a XP, rozborem jsem zjistitl, že by měla zvládnout i Win 95, 98, 98SE a NT, pro které je tam vystavena stále jen tři měsíce staré verze 4.38. To ale budete dělat na vlastní nebezpečí. VIA 4-in-1 se skládá ze čtyřech ovladačů pro VIA chipsety: Registry (INF) Driver, AGP VxD driver, ATAPI Vendor Support Driver a PCI IRQ Miniport Driver.

FIC a Intel 845GL
Společnost FIC oznámila před časem základní desku FIC VC37, ta je postavena na čipové sadě Intel 845GL a vyrábí se ve formátu mikro ATX. Určena je samozřejmě pro procesory Intel Pentium 4 a Intel Celeron (Willamette 128). Deska obsahuje 3x PCI a jednou CNR slot. Deska integruje grafické jádro a tak není slot AGP osazen. Podpora sběrnice USB 2.0, šesti kanálového zvuku či řadiče Ultra ATA/100 je díky použitému čipu ICH4 samozřejmostí.

Intel vypustil "12" základních desek pro servery
Společnost Intel se rozhodla posílit své postavení na trhu se serverovými procesory a základními deskami pro ně určenými a v pondělí vypustil řadu nových řešení pro Xeony. Číslo "12" zní sice obdivuhodně, ale jedná se prakticky o pár obměn.
