"P4B533 packs with some heavy overclocking features. With BIOS version 1006, the highest selectable system FSB is 400 Mhz (in 1Mhz increment)!! I doubt anyone can hit 400 FSB at moment but it's good to know the option is there. CPU/Memory ratio can be set 1:1 or 4:3 when the CPU FSB is set to 133 and above. There is no 3:4 ratio in BIOS to pump the RAM speed up. However, there is a workaround for getting the 3:4 ratio ..."

Albatron KX400+ Pro Motherboard

Biostar M7VIF v2.0 KT333 Motherboard
"The Biostar has many great features, such as the CNR and ACR slots, but also the four DDR333 slots are an advantage to other mainboards. Abit's IT7 MAX motherboard
ABIT'S MAX CONCEPT, at least on first inspection, appears contradictory. Here you have a PCB jam packed with all manner of integrated peripherals and brimming with expansion ports of all shapes and sizes, but it's missing PS/2, serial, and parallel ports. MAX motherboards almost resemble a concept platform for future PCs. Yet they still have a floppy drive port. It can be confusing.

Jeden z nejkvalitnějších výrobců mainboardů posílá na trh dvě svá řešení pro DDR400. Základní deska AD77 Infinity je založena na čipsetu KT400, obsahuje 4x DIMM pro DDR400, AGP 8x, 5 PCI slotů a 1x CNR. Dále deska obsahuje řadič SerialATA RAID, 6-kanálové audio a FireWire IEEE1394. Druhý motherboard je označen AD77 Pro kromě chybějícího SerialATA RAID a IEEE1394 se shoduje s modelem Infinity. Tyto desky se začnou prodávat koncem srpna.

Jak to vypadá s RDRAM pamětmi?
V současné době to nevypadá nejlépe. Intel definitivně s Rambusem končí, jen i850E chipset ještě bude dodatečně oficiálně podporovat i RDRAM 1066MHz paměti. Chipset SiS R568 vypadal velmi nadějně, ale první testy ukazují výkon nic moc. Má to tedy spočítané? Jak se zdá, asi ještě ne. Ony totiž firmy Samsung a Elpida prohlásily, že nadále budou vyvíjet RDRAM paměti a plány opravdu nejsou malé.

ASUS P4T533 - RIMM is not dead?
Pokud máte tvrdou hlavu, za zády sice úzkou, ale pravověrnou skupinu skalních příznivců, můžete si dovolit to, na co ostatní ani nepomyslí. V době, kdy mnozí (včetně Intelu) již paměti RDRAM/ Rambus z "hlavního proudu" prakticky odepisují (na konto paměti DDR), například uvedete, jako by se nechumelilo, základní desku vybavenou zcela novými 32-bitovými pamětmi RIMM 4200. Nosorožcem v tomto příkladu je ASUS, základní deska se jmenuje P4T533 a zatím je jediná svého druhu...

Intel 845G je opravdu v kurzu
Dodávky čipové sady Intel 845G (grafické jádro Intel Extreme Graphics) uvedené na trh v květnu předčily očekávání. Jen za druhou čtvrtinu roku 2002 se prodalo 4,5 miliónu těchto čipových sad. Co se týká čipových sad Intel 845GL a Intel 845D pak se jich prodalo výrazně méně (bohužel se přesná čísla neuvádějí).

KT400 a paměti PC3200 – otazníky nemizejí
V několika málo týdnech se začne hromadně dodávat čipová sada VIA KT400, ale stále kolem ní není úplně jasno. Na oficiálních webech se toho moc nedozvíte, ale informační servery povětšinou popírají podporu DDR400. Vzorky těchto nestandardizovaných pamětí by se měly objevit na konci srpna, ale bez jejich podpory je KT400 prakticky stejná jako KT333. Mimo to ještě VIA připravuje novou verzi SouthBridge VT8235 s podporou SerialATA a WLAN (802.11b).

Čipové sady s dvoukanálovým DDR řadičem
Dva výrobci čipových sad (nečekaně se jedná o společnosti SiS a VIA) dokončují práce na čipových sadách s paměťových řadičem DDR333 ve dvoukanálovém provedení. Obě dvě (SiS655 a Via P4X600) čipové sady budou zaručovat datovou propustnost paměťové sběrnice 5,3 GB/s. Řešení od společnosti Intel se jmenuje Springdale (psali jsme o něm zde) a objeví se začátkem příštího roku s podporou systémové sběrnice 667 MHz QP.

Roadmap čipsetů SiS – Pentium 4 má protekci
Před pár dny jsme Vám přinesli roadmap čipových sad společnosti ALi a jak se zdá, ani SiS se se svými plány nijak netají. Přehled budoucích čipsetů této společnosti obsahuje 13 různých modelů a převahu mezi nimi má platforma Pentium 4. Samozřejmě nechybí ani podpora AMD Hammeru.

AMD zatím nestíhá Intel
AMD plánuje uvést nové Athlony XP ještě s jádrem Thoroughbred s označením 2400+, 2600+ a 2800+. To je jistě příjemný fakt, jenže nepříjemné je, že 2400+ se začne objevovat až na počátku října, 2600+ o něco později a 2800+ až v prosinci. To je pro AMD trochu nepříjemná situace, jelikož 2,8GHz Pentium 4 od Intelu už klepe na dveře. Sice je pravda, že 2800+ Athlon XP bude rychlejší, než Pentium 2,8 GHz, ale problém je, že to většina lidí neví.

Iwill KK400 s čipsetem VIA KT400
Společnost Iwill je dalším výrobcem, který vypustil základní desku s čipovou sadou VIA KT400. Je tedy určena pro platformu Socket A (100/133/166MHz FSB) a podporuje až 3GB pamětí typu DDR400 (ale KT400 by neměla!?). Magic Flash od Epoxu příští týden
Příští týden budou moci majitelé základních desek Epox nahrávat nové verze BIOSů bez nutnosti opustit Windows. Světlo světa totiž spatří program nazvaný Magic Flash, který právě toto bude umožňovat. Program si navíc dokáže nový BIOS stáhnout sám, nebude nutné navštívit web Epoxu. Zatím není jasné, zda-li tato možnost bude k dispozici všem majitelům základních desek s logem Epox, nebo budou nutné nějaké novější. Jisté ale je, že nová deska 8K5A2+ tuto vlastnost bude podporovat zcela určitě.

Zmrtvýchvstání ALi – roadmap 10 čipsetů
Acer Laboratories, zkráceně ALi, prožívá velký návrat na trh s čipovými sadami. Ještě sice není jisté, jak se čipsety vydaří, ale nejpozdější roadmap společnosti dokazuje, že to ALi myslí v tomto segmentu zcela vážně. Odhalila totiž plány, na kterých se vyskytuje deset sad, včetně modelů s podporou DDR II či integrovanou grafikou Trident XP4.

Dvě připravované desky od Biostar
Přestože společnost Biostar nepatří k nejrenomovanějším, její základní desky nelze označit za špatné. Dokazuje to i přípravou dvou nových motherboardů s čipsety nForce2 a VIA KM400, které jsou ve formátu microATX a vyznačují se vysokou mírou integrace.

Na Digit-Life se objevila fotografie elegantně stříbrné základní desky SOYO SY-P4X400 DRAGON Ultra, která podporuje Pentium 4 na 400/533MHz FSB, paměti typu DDR400, USB 2.0 a AGP 8x. Integrován je HiPoint RAID řadič, 6-kanálové audio, S/PDIF a Realtek 8100B 10/100 Ethernet. K desce je přikládán CD Pack 8-in-1 obsahující Norton AntiVirus 2002, Norton Ghost, Acrobat Reader, WinDVD a další software. Cena byla stanovena na $155.

Specifikace motherboardu ASUS P4S8X
Na X-Bit Labs se objevily specifikace přicházející desky ASUS P4S8X založené na čipsetu SiS648. Mainboard je určen pro Pentium 4 na 400/533MHz FSB a obsahuje jeden AGP 8x, šest PCI a 3 DIMM sloty pro max. 3GB pamětí PC3200 (DDR400). Konektory na desce zahrnují šestici USB 2.0 a tři FireWire IEEE1394. Míra integrace je také vysoká – 6-kanálové audio C-Media (CMI9739), síť Realtek a řadič SerialATA od Promise. ASUS P4S8X bude k dispozici již tento měsíc.

Základní deska pro SDR i DDR paměti
Hodně nezvyklou desku si pro nás připravila firma Shuttle. Můžete do ní použít jak SDR, tak DDR paměti. Na desce najdete celkem čtyři DIMM sloty, dva pro SDR a dva pro DDR. Bohužel není možné najednou kombinovat oba druhy pamětí a musíte si jeden vybrat za pomocí jumperů.

SiS R658 podporuje PC1333 RDRAM Před pár dny vypuštěná čipová sada od společnosti SiS s názvem R658 je opravdu zajímavá. Nejen že totiž podporuje paměti Dual Rambus DRAM a všechny konfigurace jako jednokanálový 16-bit RIMM, dvoukanálový 32-bit RIMM a dvoukanálový 16-bit RIMM, ale navíc zvládne i vyšší frekvence RDRAM než 1066MHz (dnešní maximum). Podle společnosti podporuje navíc PC1200 a PC1333 o max. velikost 4GB, což je vhodné pro overclockery.

Gigabyte chystá 13 nových základních desek
Společnost Gigabyte chystá 13 nových základních desek postavených na snad všech přicházejících čipových sadách. Pro čipovou sadu Intel 845PE jsou to modely: 8IBXP, 8IBX, 8IB; pro Intel 845GE pak zase 8IFXP, 8IFX, 8IF. V přehledu je dokonce i čipová sada Granite Bay a jí příslušný model 8INXP. Z neintelovských čipových sad pro P4 je v roadmapě SiS648DX a model 8ID533. Další základní desky jsou určeny pro platformu Socket A a jsou postavené na VIA Apollo KT400, jedná se o modely 7VAXP, 7VAX, 7VA. Poslední zastoupenou platformou je AMD K8 a následující čipové sady a základní desky: AMD 8000 - K8A a VIA K8T400 - K8V.

Asus světovou jedničkou mezi výrobci základních desek
Společnost Asus prodala za první polovinu roku 2002 7,73 miliónů základních desek a těsně tak předstihla svého hlavního konkurenta: společnost ECS (7,6 miliónů prodaných desek). Další v řadě se umístila společnost MSI s 5 až 5,5 miliónů prodanými deskami a nakonec je v seznamu společnost Gigabyte s 2,23 milióny kusy. Celkově prodaly Taiwanské společnosti zabývající se výrobou základních desek 40,77 miliónů základních desek.

Chipset SiS R568
Před týdnem jsem psal, že se chipset SiS568 má objevit ještě minulý měsíc. Opravdu se tak stalo ještě 31.7., i když oficiální jméno je na firmu Silicon Integrated Systems poněkud nezvyklé: SiS R568. EPoX roadmap – 13 nových motherboardů
Společnost EPoX je jedním z nejrenomovanějších výrobců základních desek, převážně pro platformu Socket A. Dokazuje to i nově zveřejněné roadmap, která kromě osvědčené čipové sady KT333 použije také VIA KT400 a nForce2, později pak VIA K8T400, nVidia Crush a AMD-8000.
